Model Touring Series headed north on Friday
night for their first of five appearances this
season at McKean County Raceway. Race #4 of 27
was the rained out rescheduled event from May 23
and attracted a season high 38 drivers from
Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia,
Maryland, and Ontario, Canada.
After a
simply flat-out dominating performance- possibly one of the best
of his career, Joe Martin’s night came to a devastating end on
lap 22 when he got too high and slammed at the end of the
frontstretch fence. Martin’s misfortune turned into Bryce
Davis’ fortune as the young racer held off Series point leader
Rick Singleton for the $1,500 victory- the biggest of his career
in Crate Late Models! Davis became the fourth different winner

Dirt Late Model Touring Series wrapped up the two-night Bill
Emig Memorial “Wild Card Weekend” on Sunday night at Sharon
Speedway for race #3 of 27. A total of 37 different race teams
participated over the weekend from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York,
West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Ontario, Canada.
After trashing a car in an accident that looked more like a
superspeedway crash at Talladega on Saturday night, Ryan
Montgomery turned it around with an impressive win in at
thrilling 25-lap feature on Sunday night to cap off the Bill
Emig Memorial “Wild Card Weekend”. Montgomery came from fifth
to pass Glenn Elliott then held off Joe Martin and Elliott for
his first Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Tour win. The victory was
worth $1,500 and also a $100 bonus for ending up fifth in the

After summer-like conditions and thunderstorms
on Thursday’s rainout at McKean County Raceway,
it felt more like March on Saturday as the
Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model
Touring Series headed to Sharon Speedway for
night 1 of 2 of the Bill Emig Memorial “Wild
Card Weekend”. Thirty-one cars from
Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia,
Maryland, Delaware, and Ontario, Canada were on
hand for Tour race #2 of 27. Mike Pegher,
Jr. charged from the ninth starting spot, while
coming out unscathed in a big accident that took
out several of the frontrunners. Pegher then
would pass Chad Ruhlman on the ensuing restart
and go on for the 25-lap feature win, which was
worth $1,500 and was his first in the new

Despite a forecast of 80% chance of storms throughout the day on
Thursday, other than one brief afternoon downpour, McKean County
Raceway was spared of the heavy thunderstorms that went all
around the East Smethport, Pa. oval. However, around 6 p.m. a
line of storms that appeared to be heading northeast, changed
directions to eastward hitting the speedway hard and rained out
what was to be race #2 on the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series.
The event has been rescheduled to Friday, June
14. A Sweeney Weekly event will take place

have three events this season at Lernerville Speedway. The
first will take place this Friday night (May 10) in a Sweeney
Chevrolet Buick GMC Weekly Series event, while the Sweeney
Chevrolet Buick GMC Touring Series will make stops on Friday,
July 5 and then close out the year at the Sarver, Pa. oval on
October 25-26. Friday night’s event will be coupled with the All
Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars in this big early season
event. The RUSH portion will pay a minimum of $700 to-win
using Sharon Speedway’s weekly purse. If there are 24 or
more cars, the entire purse will be increased with $750 going to
the winner!

It’ll be a busy weekend for Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC
RUSH Late Model Series racers as a full complement of racing action is on tap.
Allegheny Mountain Raceway (A.M.R.) is set to host to kick
off their season this Sunday evening, May 5 with their first ever Crate Late
event. “Northcentral PA’s Sunday Evening Racing Hotspot” is located five miles
south of Kane, Pa. in Lamont and will run the RUSH Dirt Late Models on a weekly
basis on Sunday evenings. With the new management at McKean County Raceway offering
an expanded schedule with many Friday night shows, Bradford Speedway switching to
Saturday nights, and A.M.R. now adding the class, northern racers will have a
three-night circuit on most weekends! A.M.R. will also give racers in the
region the ability to accumulate Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Weekly Series

Late Model Series season now underway, Bradford Speedway is one of two
additional speedways set to get their season kicked off this weekend. The
2013 season will begin this Saturday, May 4 at 7 p.m. at the ¼-mile dirt oval
located just outside of Bradford, Pa. near Rew. With McKean County Raceway competing now nearly on a weekly
basis, Bradford recently decided to go to weekly Saturday night racing. This
will give RUSH race teams the opportunity most weekends throughout the spring
and summer to race three nights a week at McKean, Bradford, and Allegheny
